Description
Description: Tamoxifen citrate is a nonsteroidal antiestrogenic drug, widely applied in clinical medicine. It is specifically a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) of the triphenylethylene family, and has both estrogen agonist and antagonist properties. As such, it can act like an estrogen in some tissues while blocking the action of estrogen in others. In breast tissue, tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) is a strong anti-estrogen, and as a result is commonly practiced in the treatment of hormone-responsive breast cancer in women. Tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) also has the ability to increase the production of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). This is achieved by blocking negative feedback inhibition caused by estrogen in the hypothalamus and pituitary, which promotes the release of these pituitary hormones. Since anabolic/androgenic steroids tend to suppress endogenous testosterone production, Tamoxifen Citrate (Nolvadex) can help restore balance in hormone levels. It is generally used as part of a comprehensive post-cycle recovery program. Side Effects: Common side effects related to the administration of tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) include hot flashes, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, upset stomach, headache, dizziness, edema, and hair loss. How Supplied: Tamoxifen citrate (nolvadex) is most commonly supplied as 10 mg or 20 mg tablets. Dosage: 10 – 30 mg/day (1-3 tablets)
